FNDA was awarded first place in an international competition in 2021 to design a pioneering academic medical campus on a compact 4.2-acre site in Karachi. Envisioned as a high-performance, sustainable development, the project targets Net-Zero or LEED Gold standards.

The signature concept, “Sky Garden Campus,” transforms the traditional Islamic garden into a vertical experience—where cascading green spaces wrap around interconnected cores, bringing daylight, fresh air, and nature into every level. Rooted in principles of geometry and balance, the design merges cultural identity with advanced sustainable systems, including solar energy, rainwater harvesting, natural ventilation, and locally sourced materials.

Following the competition win, FNDA developed a comprehensive 1.4 million sq. ft. master plan that seamlessly integrates the university with the existing hospital. Phase 1 introduces a dynamic Academic Campus anchored by a Teaching Tower, with light-filled, flexible learning environments. The campus features state-of-the-art labs, library, lecture theatres, student center, multipurpose sports and performance hall, conference facilities, and vibrant social spaces designed to foster collaboration and innovation.
